Brooklyn – John Stillwaggon’s celebrated acting school opens its new master class program with a presentation of one of the American theater’s best ensemble drama, Twelve Angry Men.
This classic play centers on the deliberating jury of what appears to be an open and shut case … until one juror questions what “reasonable doubt” truly looks like. We are then taken on a journey that pits character study with the law. The twelve will never be the same again. Mr. Stillwaggon has taken his students on a similar journey, weaving character development with ensemble performance. ACT-OUT’s The Master Class gives its students a chance to experience the process of live theater performance in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere.
The cast blends exceptional newcomers with continuing education artists. The program includes Raja RG, Joyce Adams, William Doyle, Olga Privman, Andy Guzman, Andy Castillo, Robert Aloi, Christopher Sirota, Robert Saunders, John Harrison, Mohammed Saad, Kristen Blessin, and Eric Fitzgerald

SHAKESPEARE IN BROOKLYN by the Genesis Repertory:
Romeo & Juliet opens first season for Brooklyn’s classical theatre, Genesis Repertory.

A revival of the company’s acclaimed production of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers features a Russian-Jewish Romeo and a Palestinian Juliet finding love in the streets of Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights, and Sheepshead Bay.

The ambitious multimedia production includes film sequences, environmental staging with actors roaming the audience and realistic fight scenes. Making his professional theatre debut is 16-year-old Nelson Gonzalez as the headstrong Romeo. Aileen Lanni shares the marquee as Juliet with local celebrities John Stillwaggon as Mercutio and Miguel Angel Sierra as his nemesis, Tybalt; British classical actress Anna Frankl-Duval and Russian-born character actor Kevin Sheynerman flanking the Montagues while international opera singer, Courteney Lynn Wilds, shares the Capulet stage as the Nurse. Stage and screen actor/playwright Francis Callahan guest stars as Friar Lawrence. The Montagues and the Capulets (led by Jay Michaels and Robert Aloi as the patriarchs), also include Christopher Sirota, Kristin O’Blessin, John Karcher, Mohammed Saad Ali, Lisa Tosti, Louis Tullo, Jessica Stella, Theresa Chow, Eric Fitzgerald, and Lorenzo Valoy. The entire production is designed and directed by the company’s artistic director, Mary Elizabeth MiCari, whose Broadway staff credentials include Wonderful Town, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Light in the Piazza, and Little Women.
