Remember that
Riverside Park isn't just that stretch of parkland alongside Rverside
Drive. It's also that area which borders the Hudson River deep within. Also note what we've always
mentioned: What goes
down, must come back up.
Venturing deep within the park means going down a steep incline in most areas.
Thus, be prepared to hike back all the way up to the street level.

Eighth Annual Swing a Ring Day in Manhattan Saturday, May 7 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Traveling rings have been a popular attraction in Santa Monica, CA since the 1930s, and Riverside Park has the only set of rings outside of California.
Traveling rings are unique physical fitness equipment that provide enjoyable and challenging exercise for the whole body. Outdoors, the free-standing apparatus consists of support posts and a top beam from which 8-10 rings, spaced 7-8 feet apart, hang on swivel chains 6-7 feet above the ground. In a gymnasium or other indoor setting the rings are hung from a beam with the number and distance between them dependent upon the space. Rings enthusiasts (ringers) "travel" from one ring to the next by using their arms, legs, and trunk to build momentum. The swivels enable them to perform spins, flips, and other creative techniques.
Visit www.swingaring.com for details.
