Eighth Annual Winter's Eve
is Coming To Town at Lincoln Square
Monday, November 26, 2007, 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm

On Winter’s Eve, dozens of neighborhood shops and institutions will offer demos, discounts and holiday cheer. Some of previous years' participants included Eddie Bauer, Eastern Mountain Sports, Bed Bath and Beyond, Gracious Home, Jacadi, Kiehl’s, Oreck Clean Home, West Side YMCA and Metropolitan Opera Shop, Aveda, J.W. Cooper, Eileen Fisher, Tourneau, Joseph Abboud, Lockes Diamantaires, Morgenthal Frederics Opticians, Elixir Juice Bar, Inside CNN, Equinox Fitness Club and others.

The Winter's Eve festivities will follow Lincoln Center's 17th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, which begins at 5:30 pm on the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center. The Tree Lighting celebrates the rich cultural and artistic diversity of the Lincoln Center community and will be hosted by popular WABC-TV weatherman Sam Champion and broadcast live on WABC-TV. This free event features special music and fun family entertainment.

As is usual, tens of thousands will descend upon this very special part of NYC as streets become aglow with Christmas Cheer and Yuletide decor! From those wonderful decorations outside of those many midtown office buildings to the skating rink at Rockefeller Center there'll be plenty to take in and hold sight of. 'And why not? For decades this area has stood ground as what New Yorkled considers to be the Christmas Capital of the World!

So come hither and rejoice as we near this merry time of year.

Scheduled to perform will be:
Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Barry Manilow, Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale and Carrie Underwood

The Chorus Tree at South Street Seaport

Experience the Chorus Tree, a beloved downtown New York tradition, which will be unveiled at the South Street Seaport on November 23rd, 2007 at 6:00pm. The tree, which stands about 50-feet tall and is beautifully decorated with thousands of twinkling white lights. This year on hand will be the Big Apple Chorus to perform your yuletide faves.

Hess Presents Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo
Visit the Bronx Zoo and get to enjoy all the wonderful Holiday Lights strung out in many delightful shapes...but that's not all! There'll be costumed characters as well as ice sculpting and so much more!!! So get into the festive holiday spirit early this year and head on over to the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo this year!

The Annual Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx
November 23, 2007-January 13, 2008

Taking place once again at the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory within the Bronx' NY Botanical Garden is this Seasonal treat wherein all are welcomed to enjoy the magical Holiday Train Show. With replicas of over 100 NY Landmarks stretched across the Conservatory (from the Statue of Liberty and Apollo Theater to winter scenes in Central Park) all are sure to be pleased by this stunning display as trains and trolleys travel throughout and enter and exit tunnels and bridges.

"Set amid evergreens and lights, it's a fantastic world sure to enchant the whole family. And there's something new to see every year. Additions to this year's landscape include the Jewish Museum, a much larger interpretation of the Brooklyn Bridge, and an historic Bronx firehouse. Gingerbread Adventures at the NY Botanical Garden's Everett Children's Adventure Garden in the Bronx
November 23, 2007 - January 13, 2008
Weekdays: 1:30-5:30 pm
Weekends: 10 a.m.-5:30 pm

This "sense-sational" and magical holiday adventure beckons kids to smell, touch, and taste the spices and other plant parts that make up a gingerbread recipe. They'll discover that cinnamon comes from the bark of a tree, ginger root from an underground stem, and cloves from the bud of a clove tree. They can also grind spices, make spicy sachets and ornaments, and decorate gingersnap cookies.

New this year are the Winter Wonderland of Gingerbread Houses in the Bendheim Global Greenhouse and a tie-in to the popular children's story The Gingerbread Man. There's also a display of drawings of magnified spices, and kids can use microscopes to examine spices for their own botanical illustrations.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the fantastic Rockettes
November 9, 2007 - December 30, 2007
Ticket Prices: $40 - $150
The show is between 90 and 105 minutes long.

Once again thousands will be in awe from the show put on at Radio City this year just as in many years past. Taking place within the Rockefeller Center area otherwise considered by New Yorkled to be the Christmas Capital of the World!

New Yorkled will be seeing this show in November and we'll be back to report how great it is.

(Park in the lot at the end of Nevada Avenue, off Rockland Avenue and follow signs).

Join the Urban Park Rangers for a scenic hike along the Greenbelt, from High Rock to Heyerdahl Hill. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the fall foliage and a variety of woodland wildlife. You’ll also learn about the Million Trees NYC initiative to plant 1,000,000 new trees in New York City over the next 10 years. This moderate hike will last between two and three hours and end at Heyerdahl Hill. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring water, a snack and binoculars, if you have them. FREE.
