More than 25,000 people, including 27 active military units from all branches, six Medal of Honor recipients, veterans groups and high school bands from around the nation, will march in this year’s New York City Veterans Day Parade, the largest in the nation, Friday, November 11, 11:11 am - 2:00 pm, Fifth Avenue from 23rd – 56th Streets.

Gingerbread Adventures at the NY
Botanical Garden's Everett Children's Adventure Garden in the Bronx
Dates to come
This "sense-sational" and magical holiday adventure
beckons kids to smell, touch, and taste the spices and other
plant parts that make up a gingerbread recipe. They'll discover
that cinnamon comes from the bark of a tree, ginger root from
an underground stem, and cloves from the bud of a clove tree.
They can also grind spices, make spicy sachets and ornaments,
and decorate gingersnap cookies.
New this year are the Winter Wonderland of Gingerbread Houses
in the Bendheim Global Greenhouse and a tie-in to the popular
children's story The Gingerbread Man. There's also a display
of drawings of magnified spices, and kids can use microscopes
to examine spices for their own botanical illustrations. |
