Madison Square Park is located between 23rd & 26th Streets and extends from 5th Avenue to Madison Avenue.

The Madison Square Park Conservancy launches its annual and most ambitious season of free concerts on the Oval Lawn of historic Madison Square Park. Mad. Sq. Music 2008 presents consistently fresh, surprising, high-quality music by exciting performers in a variety of genres-folk, jazz, funk, world music, and pop.

Concertgoers can lounge on lush grass, enjoying innovative and exciting artists performing in a beautifully landscaped park. Audience members are invited to bring a blanket and a picnic, or enjoy a burger and shake from the Shake Shack.

Mad. Sq. Music concerts are free and open to the public. No ticket is necessary.

Holiday Event
December 6 at 4:30 pm

Mad. Sq. Holiday will take place in the Northern Plaza of Madison Square Park, rain or shine on December 6th at 4:30 pm.

Join them in Madison Square Park for a festive gathering of the annual tree lighting ceremony with tasty treats courtesy of Hill Country Chicken & Hill Country Barbecue Market for all to enjoy.

Bundle up and bring family and friends to watch as the holiday magic begins. The Department of Parks & Recreation’s Manhattan Borough Commissioner, William T. Castro; Conservancy President Debbie Landau and sponsor representatives Lynn Shanahan of Marimekko and Jerry Telson of Walgreens will make brief remarks warming everyone up for the tree lighting countdown! The New York Life Singers will join us again with festive tunes and Audra Rox will be here to get the kids dancing to continue the celebration!

Fall Kids Fest
Saturday, October 15 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Bring the kiddos to the park and welcome the fall season with live music, games, arts and crafts activities, face painting and snacks. Yes, it's that time of year again: Fall Kids Fest, a day of free fun for children and their families, returns to the Park on October 15 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This year, Kids Fest will also host the first-ever CLIF Kid Backyard Game of the Year Playoffs where children can play outdoor games invented by fellow kids. Kids Fest is free, open to the public, and no reservations are necessary.

Bluegrass In The Park

Mad. Sq. Music: Studio Series presents its inaugural Bluegrass in the Park, a special all-day celebration of a uniquely American musical form. This five-concert event will be staged on the Oval Lawn

Bring a blanket and picnic dinner to these free concerts on the Oval Lawn. Their hand-picked line-ups present a mix of nationally touring acts ranging from jazz, soul and R&B to folk, bluegrass and pop.

Join the Madison Square Park Conservancy for a fabulous day of family-friendly fun activities at the Spring Kids Fest in Madison Square Park, presented with Time Out New York Kids.

Spring Kids Fest 2011, a day of free outdoor fun for children. Bring your little ones and enjoy live performances by raucous kids faves Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights and Songs for Seeds, story time yoga from Karma Kids Yoga, arts and crafts with Rubin Museum of Art, The Museum of Mathematics, and Appleseeds, plus tasty snacks from The Treats Truck, face painting, and much more!

    The Deedle Deedle Dees use rock-n-roll, country, hip hop, New Orleans piano music, punk, and folk to teach kids about American history, the natural world, social action, and other cool stuff that they might never have thought about before.

    The Pop Ups

She made the songs bilingual so that her simple messages of joy, discovery and perseverance would reach more young ears.

    Dog on Fleas
    Dog on Fleas has been performing and recording intelligent, gutsy music for kids and adults since 1999. Watch out for the roving trombone slide, a stunning wardrobe, fancy footwork, irresistible rhythms, and the spirited singing of the Fleas (and you).

    Oran Etkin’s Timbalooloo
    Oran Etkin is an internationally acclaimed jazz and world music artist, and the creator of the groundbreaking Timbalooloo method of enriching the musicality of young children. Etkin was also a featured artist on Putumayo Kids’ Jazz Playground, winner of the Parents’ Choice Gold Award. Etkin is in the process of adapting his method into a series of children's books and is in the early stages of developing a pilot for a children's TV show.

Delta Dugout at Madison Square Park
May 20-22, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

Madison Square Park and Delta Air Lines invite fans of New York baseball to upgrade their baseball experience at the “Delta Dugout,” an interactive three-day event celebrating the city’s two beloved teams. As the Official Airline of the New York Mets and New York Yankees, Delta is commemorating the iconic interleague series between the teams by hosting its second annual Delta Dugout at Madison Square Park, May 20-22, 2011. The event will feature player appearances, live game viewing, baseball-themed activities and giveaways.
The fun kicks off Friday at 11:00 am and runs through Sunday afternoon. Weekend highlights include:

  • Joba Chamberlain Fast Pitch Challenge & Josh Thole Batting Cages Home Run Derby
  • Live concert with Yankees alum Bernie Williams
  • The 3rd Annual Fan Flair Challenge where you can take home a prize for the most team-spirited outfit
