Lunar New Year Flower Market in Columbus Park No details as of yet are available regarding times or dates
Having grown from a small event with 30,000 visitors in its first year this item garnered 150,000 visitors last year! Each year the event just gets better and more family friendly. For this year, expect beautiful decorations, some really exciting artists, and of course, a beautiful selection of flowers.
This event takes place at Columbus Park, Mulberry Street, between Bayard and

Lunar
New Year Parade + Lion / Dragon Dances
Lunar New Year Parade in Flushing Queens -

11:00 am - 1:00 pm
They'll be dragon dancers, steel drummers and fireworks.
From Main Street at 37th avenue towards Main and other
local streets as well as Flushing Mall. The parade is the highlight of the Chinese New Year celebrations
in Flushing. Look for dragon dancers, steel drummers,
and fireworks. About 4,000 people march each year.

As well, there's supposedly to be other continued folk performances and food to be taking place at this locale.
Greet the Year of the
Ox with a Lion Dance at the China Institute Sunday, February 1, 2009
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
FREE
This folk tradition is performed by acrobats and martial artists dressed in colorful
costumes and accompanied by drums and gongs. This event is very popular and only
early arrival can guarantee a good view of the performance. The Lion Dance is
held on East 65th Street outside China Institute so prepare for cold weather.

At this wonderful living museum in Brooklyn there will be numerous events throughout the day. These will include the Flower Market itself as well as Qi Shu Fang Peking Opera, DVL Dance Vietnam, Folktales Celebrating the Lunar New Year, and Oh heck! There'll also be culinary delights from China, Korea, and Vietnam on the Terrace Café's special Lunar New Year menu.
