Costume Parade & Drum Circle Maracatu NY and giant stilt dancers lead our celebrated costume parade and drum circle like nobody's business! Join in the fun and carry larger-than-life puppets and colorful banners, make raucous music, shake your bag o' bones, or just show off your costume for
all to see!
Shake a tail feather, show off your costume, and carouse with colossal puppets at Brooklyn’s wackiest costume parade! Groove to an orchestra of gourds, make a mustache, chat with celebrated children’s book creators, explore the Victorian Toy Parlor, waltz with a woodland creature, or just flop down on the grass surrounded by the Garden’s gorgeous fall colors.

Cherry Blossoms at the Garden:
Every year the blossoms at the BBG are quite spectacular and well, we're definitely nearing that point in time when one should be keeping an eye on the map provided at their site. Visit this page to see the CherryWatch Blossom Status Map which as we get nearer to the blossoms the map will be updated.
During spring break, commemorate Earth Day with a native plant celebration in the Discovery Garden! Kids will learn about our wild Brooklyn plants through hands-on explorations, create a take-home project, and discover a world of wildflowers throughout the Garden. Free with Garden admission; no registration required. Drop in at any point during workshop hours.
Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival Saturday, April 30 - Sunday, May 1
This highly anticipated annual event features a bevy of events and performances amidst the beauty of all the cherry blossoms which will usually begin to show their beauty weeks earlier. In store for everyone will be: Taiko Drumming, Martial Arts, Manga Artists, J-pop, Tea Ceremonies

Sakura Matsuri 2010 Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Participate in New York City's "rite of spring" at Sakura Matsuri, a phenomenal weekend celebrating Japanese culture with over 60 events and performances. Enjoy contemporary and traditional Japanese music and dance, taiko drumming, ikebana flower arranging, Japanese DJs, presentations on the art of manga, tea ceremonies, and workshops for all ages.
Cherry Blossoms
Also on hand are all the Cherry Blossoms which bloom beautifully at about this time. Visit the BBG and experience a beauty unparalleled in the NYC area. It's quite the sight and experience for the entire family.
