Transportation Alternatives 2006 NYC Century Bike Tour

The ultimate urban adventure! Linking New York City's breathtaking
bridges and beautiful parks to its incomparable neighborhoods and
famous waterfronts, the NYC Century Bike Tour shows you the world's
greatest city like you've never seen it before. The Century is your
ride--as challenging or relaxing as you choose, but always fun and
rewarding. All routes have been carefully designed with your safety
and enjoyment in mind. No matter which route you choose, you will
be full supported by experienced marshals and mechanics along the
route and plentiful food at scenic rest stops.

The Century is your ride--as challenging or relaxing as you choose,
but always fun and rewarding. All routes have been carefully designed
with your safety and enjoyment in mind. No matter which route you
choose, you will be full supported by experienced marshals and mechanics
along the route and plentiful food at scenic rest stops.
The Routes
The following are details from last year's race (2005)
Start/Finish:
Central Park's beautiful Harlem Meer at 110th Street and Lenox Avenue
and onto Brooklyn's Prospect Park
15 miles (Park to Park):
A scenic and family-friendly tour from Central Park to Prospect
Park, Frederick Law Olmsted’s green masterpieces. Enjoy riding
the majestic avenues of Manhattan, across the world famous Brooklyn
Bridge and through beautiful brownstone Brooklyn to the carousel
in Prospect Park. End your trip at the park or take advantage of
our free transportation back to the start in Central Park. Leave
7 am. Finish 10 am-1 pm.
35 miles (Brooklyn & Queens
Riverfront Ride):
A combination of the 15 mile route and a trip around the world and
through time via the fascinating neighborhoods near the East River
in Brooklyn and Queens, including the
museum district in Long Island City. Leave 7:30 am. Finish 11 am-3
pm.
55 miles (Brooklyn Loop & Queens
Riverfront Ride):
A very scenic combination of the 75/100 mile and 35 mile routes.
Ride through culturally rich neighborhoods of Brooklyn (including
Coney Island!) and then along the waterfront to Floyd Bennett Field
and up through the historic neighborhoods of upper Brooklyn and
Queens. From bada bing to i-ching and everything in between. Leave
7 am. Finish 11 am-4 pm.
75 miles (Bay Breezes):
A unique tour of the perimeter of Brooklyn and Queens featuring
some of the city’s best greenways, from brownstones to marinas
to mansions. Ride out to the beach in the Rockaways and take a lap
on New York’s Kissena velodrome. You won’t believe that
you’re still in New York City! Leave 6:30 am. Finish 12-4
pm.
100 miles (NYC Century):
The 75 mile route plus great Bronx and Manhattan greenways. The
ultimate urban adventure on two wheels: Four boroughs, two wheels,
one day, hundreds of neighborhoods and cultures. There’s no
ride like it. You’ve got to ride it to believe it. Leave 6
am. Finish 12-6 pm.
