CHORUS MASTER – Gail Archer is an international concert organist, recording artist, choral conductor and lecturer who draws attention to composer anniversaries or musical themes with her annual recital series in New York City: An American Idyll, Liszt, Bach, Mendelssohn and Messiaen.In spring, 2013, the five-concert series is, “The Muses Voice: A Celebration of International Women Composers.” Ms. Archer was the first American woman to play the complete works of Olivier Messiaen for the centennial of the composer’s birth in 2008; Time-Out New York recognized the Messiaen cycle as “Best of 2008 ” in Classical music and opera. Her recordings include Franz Liszt: A Hungarian Rhapsody, Bach, the Transcendent Genius, An American Idyll, A Mystic In the Making on Meyer-Media LLC and The Orpheus of Amsterdam: Sweelinck and his Pupils on CALA Records, London. Ms. Archer is college organist at Vassar College, and director of the music program at Barnard College, Columbia University where she conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus. She serves as director of the artist and young organ artist recitals at historic Central Synagogue, New York City.
OCB FOUNDER, ARTISTIC AND MUSIC DIRECTOR – Jay Meetze (pronounced Mets) is lauded for his “passionate and undeniably impressive command of performances” and “sympathetic leadership of the forces of the OCB.” (Metropolitan Opera’s “Opera News” magazine). His Grammy-nominated CD, Divas of a Certain Age (Albany Records), with music by and performed with Thomas Pasatieri was named “BEST OF THE YEAR” and “CRITIC’S CHOICE” by Opera News. The CD features San Francisco Opera Center’s Director Sheri Greenawald and MSM’s Ashley Putnam. Meetze’ innovative vision for opera is featured on the Jeopardy quiz show, Good Morning America with MythBusters, CNN’s Tips from the Top, German Public TV, National Public Radio’s Day to Day, American Public Media’s Marketplace, 1010WINS, WNYC’s Overnight Music and Soundcheck, Wall Street Journal, NY Times, NY Daily and NY Post newspapers, NY Magazine, Life, American Record Guide, Crain’s New York Business, Classical Singer Magazine, Frommer’s and two arts administration books. Supporters/colleagues: Richard Tucker Music Foundation President Barry Tucker, Joseph Rescigno, William Hicks, Forbidden Broadway’s Gerard Alessandrini, Francesca Zambello, Lucine Amara, Martina Arroyo, Harolyn Blackwell, Simon Estes, Elaine Malbin, Frederica Von Stade. Meetze, born in Flint, Michigan, received his M.M. in Orchestral Conducting at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati.
