Village Halloween Parade
"The Village Hearth"
Entering into its 35th celebration is the Annual Halloween Parade.
from Spring St to 21st Street along 6th Avenue
Friday, October 31st beginning at 7:00 pm

Come on down and see all the ghouls and goblins. It's a huge attraction with more than 2 million spectators and over 45,000 participants. "It's the largest public participatory event in the greatest city in the world."

So, if you show up in a costume then you're welcomed to join the parade.

Line up for the parade begins on 6th Avenue South of Spring Street and North of Canal From 6:30 to 8:30 pm
NOTE: According to the official site, you should ONLY enter the line-up on 6th Ave. from the East and South between Canal and Spring ! The West Side is cut off.

It then heads north to 23rd Street and 6th Avenue. So show up in your costume and be ready to walk along in front of thousands upon thousands of spectators.

The Parade is expected to last from 7pm to 11pm and will be telecast through Cable NY1 News from 8:00 - 9:30pm.

It takes about 2 hours or more for the parade to reach the end.

Celebrate Halloween with Brooklyn's most weird, wacky, and wonderful Halloween festival! Brooklyn Botanic Garden transforms into a Halloween wonderland with musical performances, demonstrations, workshops, and spooky activities for kids of all ages. Catch concerts taking place there as well as other items such as Thai pumpkin carving, shrunken apple heads and more which will thrill one and all! There'll also be a Halloween costume parade with the Brazilian percussion corps drummers leading the way. Heck! So come one and all in costume or regular attire. You're welcomed to this silly event that's fun for the entire family.

Halloween Events at NY Botanical Garden
The New York Botanical Garden - Bronx River Parkway at Fordham Road

  • Halloween Hoorah
    October 26, 2008 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Location: Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden and Garden Grounds

    This requires an All-Garden Pass

    Come celebrate the thrills and chills of Halloween at The New York Botanical Garden. Come in your costume or make your own mask here and parade around the grounds. Finish the day decorating pumpkins and drinking fresh pressed cider in the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden. The Halloween Parade meets at the Rose Garden entrance at 12, 2, and 4 p.m. and heads to the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden where you can decorate pumpkins to take home and press your own apple cider.

Halloween at Cathedral of St. John the Divine

Annual Pumpkin Festival At Central Park
Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Taking place Mid-park at 72nd Street entrances
Get ready to scare up a good time at the New York City Parks & Recreation and Camp
Sunshine’s Annual Pumpkin Festival.

On hand will be the

  • Spooktacular Haunted House at the Bethesda Terrace Arcade,
  • Jack 'O Lantern Tower at the Bandshell
  • Pumpkin Patch at Cherry Hill
  • Scarecrow Design Competition at Bethesda Fountain
  • Hayrides along the 72nd Street Traverse
  • enjoyment of live music and entertainment.

Mind you, all proceeds from the event will benefit Camp Sunshine, a national retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their family.

Halloween Parade and Pumpkin Sail & PARTY! at Central Park

The Charles A. Dana Discovery Center
Saturday, October 26, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Inside the Park at 110th Street between Fifth and Lenox Avenues

Attention all trick-or-treaters, ghost and ghoblins! Bring a carved jack-o-latern (10 pounds or less) by 6:00 pm and join them for this annual event as folks parade around the Meer.

There'll also be pumpkin crafts, storytelling with Dan Kitrosser, live saw music by Natalia Paruz, and other fun activities in this unique family celebration of Halloween.

The event will conclude with a flotilla of candle-lit pumpkins sailing across the Harlem Meer. All ages.
NOTE: Pumpkins must be checked in by 6:00 pm

Here's Fun, Friendly, Freaky activities for kids up to 13 years of age. On hand will be the FREE Maze of Horrors wherein they'll follow Igor and other creatures of the night through tunnels and secret passageways.

Blood Manor

Blood Manor is a haunted labyrinth that combines 11 themed rooms of horror with a pitch black maze and NYC’s only haunted 3-D maze , where guests receive 3-D glasses to view ghastly images as demons, monsters and ghouls stalk them. Throughout your journey of terror, creatures appear, jump, scream and cackle as haunting music and erie smoke fill the air. Blood Manor is meant to be intense and scary and is not recommended for those under 14 years of age.

    Come to the 8th annual Halloween Harvest Festival with your friends and family to make a costume with Socrates Sculpture Park artists; listen to live music; enjoy a special art-making workshop with Materials for the Arts; transform your face with face painting by Agostino Arts; enter your dog in the fourth annual Canine Costume Contest or just watch the parade of creatively clad canines; paint a pumpkin and try harvest foods from a local restaurant; and see a special performance by the Red Door Theatre Company.
