21st Annual NYCares Coat Drive
December 1 - December 31, 2009

Host a Coat Collection – Organize a coat drive and inspire your coworkers, neighbors, or friends to give the gift of warmth this winter.
Donate a coat – Find a collection site near you.
Make a financial donation – Collecting and distributing 70,000 coats each winter requires enormous resources. Your donation will provide more warm coats this winter and volunteer programs that will continue to impact our city all year long.

Are you a member of New York Cares? If not and you're interested in learning more about this successful national non-profit then why not visit their site and learn about volunteering opportunities in the New York City Area as well as possible Holiday Volunteering Needs.

Coats collected will be distributed to struggling men, women, and children at New York City homeless shelters, community organizations, churches, and agencies serving seniors. The New York Cares Coat Drive is a lifeline for New York's neediest citizens during the cold winter months.

You may drop off coats in good condition at any of the Police Department’s 76 precincts or Housing Police Service Areas. All donations are tax deductible. Receipts are available at drop-off locations, including Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station.

For a complete list of drop-off sites, go to nycares.org,
or call (212) 228-5000.

Toys for Tots

Each December, the Police Department and the United States Marine Corps join forces to conduct the annual Toys for Tots Drive. New toys are collected, wrapped and distributed to needy children throughout the City during the holiday season. The Police Department also organizes five Toys for Tots celebrations, one in each geographic borough. These events bring needy children to local precincts to receive a holiday toy.
Visit the Toys for Tots Website to learn about how you can help within your own area.
