Everyone can be a hero on Sunday, September 30 during "The Firefighter
Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run." This five kilometer (5K)
run/walk traces the path of a heroic FDNY firefighter who ran through
the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to reach Ground Zero on 9-11.
The run/walk starts at Brooklyn on the Gowanus approach (I.S 142)
to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, go through the Tunnel, right onto
West Street, left onto Liberty Street, to Battery Park esplanade,
and finish at Vesey Street, facing the former World Trade Center.
About the Foundation
The Stephen Siller, FDNY, ‘Let Us Do Good’ Children’s
Foundation was created to serve the needs of children who have lost
one or more parents. The Foundation sponsors educational scholarships,
counseling, financial support and other related activities in an
effort to bring hope and healing to these children. The Foundation
honors the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, FDNY, who lost
both his parents by the time he was 10 years old. It is a non-profit
organization staffed solely by volunteers, allowing all funds to
be distributed to eligible children.
