Thousands
To Kick Off Labor Day Weekend and Support Downtown Business during
a Full Weekend of Events and Savings For The Entire Family
More than 4,000 participants and supporters will get a running start
on Labor Day weekend events with the 2nd annual NYC Run to Liberty,
an open 10K race for people of all ages and abilities accompanied
by a weekend of exciting Lower Manhattan activities for the entire
family and savings at area restaurants, retail shops and cultural
attractions.
Produced by NYC & Company and New York Road Runners (NYRR),
NYC Run to Liberty will take place on Saturday, August 30th starting
at 8:30am at Battery Park in lower Manhattan. Races for kids ages
2 - 12, raffle prizes, an award ceremony and a family festival in
Battery Park will follow; over 170 children are expected to participate.
Olympians Amy Rudolph (United States) and Mark Carroll (Ireland)
will run the 10K race, and host a pre-race meet & greet at the
Millenium Hilton on Friday, August 29th at 6:00pm.
The 6.2 mile race begins and ends near Battery Park and winds through
the streets of Lower Manhattan, passing numerous landmarks such
as the New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall, Trinity Church and
Fraunces Tavern.
On race day, check-in and registration will be from 7:00am to 8:00am
in the registration tent in Battery Park at Battery Place and State
Street. Kids race check-in will be from 9:00am to 10:00am in the
same location. Souvenir T-shirts, numbers and scoring chips can
be picked up at Super Runners Shop, Grand Central Terminal Main
Concourse, on Thursday, August 28 and Friday, August 29, 12:00pm
(noon) to 7:00pm.
