Winter Sports Festival at Rockefeller Center
The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and presenting sponsor Hilton Worldwide will kick-off the 100 day countdown to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada, with an all-day winter sports festival on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2009, at ROCKEFELLER PLAZA, between 49th and 50th Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues, Manhattan. The winter sports festival is free and open to the public and will showcase all eight Olympic winter sports.
Media are invited to attend a special presentation that begins at 11:00 a.m. and includes:
Interviews with Olympians,
Interactive curling, luge, sled hockey and biathlon laser rifle demonstrations.
Official unveiling of Team USA’s parade and podium apparel by Polo Ralph Lauren and Nike
Making of “Team USA” and official introduction of the Men’s and Women’s 2010 Olympic Curling Teams.
The 2010 U.S. Olympic Team will ultimately be made up of approximately 225 athletes representing eight different winter sports, and the 2010 U.S. Paralympic Team will be comprised of approximately 60 athletes from five sports. Each sport and discipline has their own unique qualifying process over multiple months. Over the course of the 100 days leading up to the Opening Ceremony in Vancouver, the USOC will engage consumers in the Making of Team USA and celebrate each athletes’ nomination on TeamUSA.org.
