Digital Arts and Culture
- Digital Archeology - The four day long exhibition charts the disruptive moments of web design and celebrates the characters behind its radical evolution. The exhibit will be showcasing 28 landmark, culturally significant websites restored to their former glory and presenting them on the software and hardware of the day.( June 6-9 , IWNY HQ)
- Can You Draw The Internet?: The challenge: capture the spirit of the Internet’s billions of pages in a single image. Members of the public, New York City middle and high school students, and renowned designers and artists will attempt to draw what the Internet looks like. The funny and surprising results will be on display and available for auction. (June June 6-9, IWNY HQ)
- Speed Show: Speed Show is an exhibition series in which artists take over an Internet Café, rent all the computers during normal business hours, and run an art show on them for one day. For Internet Week New York, Speed Show will take over the Internet Garage café in Williamsburg. (June 8, Internet Garage, Williamsburg)
- Nerd Nite NYC– Nerds convene for a trivia contest followed by presentations on such geeky topics as how the quest for barbecue shaped today’s timekeeping technology and the physics and software of modern sports bikes. (June 10, Galapagos Art Space)
- Ignite NYC – Brian Stelter (New York Times’ media reporter) and Amanda Peyton (founder of MessageParty) are among the presenters who must make a compelling case on the topic of their choice with just five minutes and 20 slides rotating automatically. The challenge: Enlighten, but make it quick. (June 8, Tishman Auditorium at the New School)
- Flavorpill's Internet Week Culture Hunt - New Yorkers will follow clues on their iPhones, searching for objects throughout venues across NY. At the end of the hunt participants will unlock an invitation to a secret Flavorpill party. (June 11, NYC)
- Kaboodle.com’s Crowdsourced Fashion Show - The first-ever crowdsourced runway show will feature fashions inspired by styleboards created by members of the Kaboodle online community modeled by NYC”s top fashion and tech bloggers, editors, and influencers. (June 7, Internet Week New York Headquarters)

- The Webutante Ball – A celebration of the New York tech scene, including the crowning of the Webutante King and Queen. (June 7, Marquee)
- The 15th Annual Webby Awards – Concluding Internet Week New York, the star-studded awards gala will feature winners delivering the Webbys' famous five-word speeches. (June 13, Hammerstein Ballroom, Invite Only and streamed live on Facebook)
- My Damn Channel 5th Anniversary Party – The network behind hit Web series like Wainy Days with David Wain and Easy To Assemble starring Ileana Douglas host its fifth anniversary party (June 6, The Delancey)

- Everyone’s a Comedian – Judah Friendlander (30 Rock) and Michael Ian Black (WitStream) look at how Twitter, Tumblr and YouTube has made everybody -- and they mean everybody -- feel like they're now comedians. (June 8, Internet Week NY Headquarters)
- The NewFront 2011 – Kevin Jonas, Tori Spelling, Isabella Rossellini, and Jane Pratt are among the innovators, provocateurs, and thinkers from the fields of technology, entertainment, media and content speaking at this one-day event (June 9, Skylight Soho)
- Conversational Marketing Summit – Rachel Ray, will.i.am, David Karp (Tumblr), and Tim Westergren (Pandora) are among the speakers at this two-day conference on interactive marketing.
- Personal Democracy Forum: Senator Kirstin Gillibrand, Craig Newmark (Craigslist), and Lawrence Lessig headline this two-day conference exploring how technology is changing politics and government. (June 6-7, NYU’s Skirball and Kimmel Centers)
- Future of Media: 2011 – David Carr (New York Times), Remy Stern (Gawker) and Edward Felsenthal (The Daily Beast) are among the panelists debating how the Internet and other digital media are transforming the traditional media landscape. - Yahoo! Provoke Summit – Steven Johnson (Where Good Ideas Come From, Everything Bad is Good for You) keynotes this event featuring creatives and developers exploring how new innovations and technology are evolving the digital media environment. (June 7, IWNY HQ)
- Online = Offline: Conversation with Fred Wilson and David Lee - Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures, known for its investments in startups such as Twitter, Foursquare, and Kickstarter, and David Lee of SV Angels discuss the convergence of online and offline in a panel moderated by Chris Dixon, founder of Hunch.com (June 6, General Assembly).
- TECHmunch Conference – Chef Jacques Torres leads a one-day conference for food bloggers. (June 11, Astor Center)
Start Ups
- Time Inc. 10 Start Ups to Watch Party - Time Inc editors will recognize ten of New York City’s most exciting digital start-ups in areas from retail to entertainment to social media. (June 8, Time & Life Building)
- NY Tech Meetup – New York Tech Meetup (NYTM) has been integral to resurgence of New York’s Silicon Alley, with nearly every notable new company, including Foursquare and Tumblr, making their debut at a NYTM demo. At Internet Week New York’s largest public event, more than 800 people will gather to see live demos from NY’s hottest and most interesting startups. (June 7, NYU Skirball Center)
- The Next Big Thing @ The Paley Center – Up-and-coming digital entrepreneurs present their start-ups to a select audience of industry leaders and investors (June 9, The Paley Center)
- Walkabout NYC – New York City’s most exciting digital companies and start-ups, including Kickstarter, Etsy, Meetup, and blip.tv host a citywide open house. The public can check out the workspaces and meet the people leading the technology charge in New York City. (June 10, citywide)

Now in its fourth year, Internet Week New York, presented by Yahoo!, has become one of the world’s top events celebrating digital culture and a global showcase for New York City’s resurgent technology industry. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend over 250 conferences, meetups, exhibits, parties and more – from the Personal Democracy Forum to Flavorpill’s Internet culture scavenger hunt to The Webutante Ball. The festival will culminate with the 15th Annual Webby Awards at Hammerstein Ballroom – streamed live on Facebook on June 13th. |
