The Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) is
pleased to announce the BAC 39th International Film and Video
Festival, the longest running film festival in Brooklyn. Featuring
films and videos by independent, college student, and youth (K-12)
filmmakers from New York and around the world, all works were
selected by a panel of New York film and video professionals.
"Attending the free screenings of the BAC 39th International
Film and Video Festival is a truly unique experience with works
exploring a range of subject matter from emotionally rich documentaries
and narratives to whimsical animation and thought-provoking experimental
pieces," said Agnes Murray, BAC Art Services Director and
coordinator of the festival. "A vast array of art, emotion,
politics, intellectual curiosity, cultural and personal identity,
community development, life in Brooklyn and around the world,
grace and awkwardness, youth and experience, beauty and grotesqueness
are all demonstrated by the outstanding filmmakers whose work
is presented in the festival. These artists, of all ages and backgrounds
have created truly memorable work."
The Media Arts Department of Long Island University opens the
festival with Films and Videos by College Students and Young Independents
and hosts a special screening of The Fourth Annual Women of African
Descent Film Festival, sponsored by the Brooklyn Chapter of the
Links. Williamsburg film forum, Ocularis, offers up Selected Shorts
- Experimental and Grotesque, while Sony Wonder Technology Lab
presents Selected Youth Videos from the BAC 39th International
