Rising star Xiayin Wang showcases her virtuoso talents for an enthralling evening of classical piano works by Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, Hayden, Wanghua Chu and Peixun Chen. On her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2007, Steve Smith of the New York Times hailed Wang’s ability to maintain and illuminate a strand of melody within the thickest of textures."

Paper Son

Queens Theatre stages a reading of Paper Son, an absorbing drama by award-winning playwright Christine Toy Johnson. In 1952, Tommy, a young Chinese-born soldier in the U.S. army meets Dorothy just as he is about to be shipped out to Korea. She challenges him to discover his true identity after learning that he was sponsored to come to the U.S. by an unknown Mr. Lee.

A Musical Journey to Taiwan

Popular Taiwanese music ensemble Chai Found Music Workshop presents Silk and Bamboo. The celebrated group performs selections ranging from Taiwanese and Hakka folk songs to George Gershwin favorites in the improvisational Sizhu style. The afternoon features the premiere of Future City, a breathtaking portrait of a virtual city performed with special guests JACK Quartet and written by experimental composer Gene Coleman.
