Grand Central Terminal
87 East 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017
Note that although some folks will refer to it as Grand Central Station, it is really Grand Central Terminal.
Located between 42nd & 45th St, within Vanderbilt & Lexington Ave. is Grand Central Terminal. NYC’s Great Transportation hub. Here is where the Metro North Trains and many others depart. The structure itself, both within and outside is quite something to gawk at.
I can remember 15 years ago when vagrants literally lived and slept in the phonebooths. ‘And that was before the 1980′s recession! It was a veritable mess. After several years of reconstruction and renovation, it’s back! Loud and clear!
If one were to have left in 1990 and come back perhaps in 1999, one would have thought him/herself in the Twilight Zone…’that is, if one were in Grand Central.
It’s a mecca of retail business, with eateries in the lower level, and virtually a spit-shine look and feel, this transportation hub of NYC is something else. Tourists might take it for granted, but any native New Yorker will tell you, that it’s come a fairly long distance from what it once was!
