| Now, one might say
that it's wonderful to be on a waterfront piece of property.
Right? 'Depends on how you look at it. With the industrial
section of Brooklyn just across the East River, and the Williamsburg
Bridge (not the prettiest sight) near the center of the
park, one might think "why would I ever want to go there?"
Well, 'spent a number of Spring/Summer days there and can
always remember the best breeze you might ever imagine. With
all its benches, basketball courts and the one or two miniature
baseball fields you're bound to feel something for this park.
At the southern entrance are some pretty good yet distant
views of the Manhattan Bridge
with the Brooklyn Bridge
just behind it.
If you're in a good mood for a hike and long stroll then
starting off at just below the South Street Seaport may very
well be a good idea. Heck, you've got along the way the historical
ships of the Seaport Museum along with all the shops there.
Plus there's also the Police Museum and boy oh boy! Did we
mention those two lower Manhattan Bridges which'll stun you
with their up close views. If you do decide to take on such
a hike then definitely bring along your cameras since on the
right day at the right time of year the photographs you'll
get will be quite spectacular!
East River Park is located at Montgomery St - 12 St off the
FDR Drive and the East River in the lower east side of Manhattan. |
