Well Known Artist Creates Unique Handmade Metal Crowns Inscribed
With Words and Poetry in Braille

New York, NY- Lighthouse International is pleased to announce a new partnership with artist Roy Nachum. From May 10 through June 11, 2012, Nachum’s show Open Your Eyes, at Joseph Nahmad Contemporary, at 450 West 14th Street, will raise funds for Lighthouse International. The show includes an installation of 1,000 stacked metal crown sculptures. The proceeds of each sale will benefit Lighthouse International.
Open Your Eyes continues to explore Nachum’s themes of perception and vision, and is divided into four parts; Parallel Realities, large-scale paintings exploring illusion and reality, Color Blind, canvases based on the Ishihara Color Vision Test, Invisible Mirrors, conceptual paintings with poetry in mirrored dot Braille letters, and Sea of Crowns. Sea Of Crowns, symbolizing a limitless sea of aspirations, is comprised of 1,000 gold colored metal crowns, each unique works of art, and each completely handmade. Some of the crowns have punched decoration, many with words or poetry punched in Braille. Each crown will be sold for $100, with $50 of the proceeds going towards Lighthouse International.
The relationship between the artist and Lighthouse International began during the conception of Nachum’s 2011 show, BLIND, a series photorealistic and conceptual paintings, challenging those with both with and without sight to question the limitations of their “vision.“ Nachum consulted with Lighthouse extensively on the show, He says, “I’m very honored to be associated with Lighthouse International. Through them, I have learned a great deal about what it means to be without sight. They were selfless in helping me research my own work, and I am very pleased to be able to give something back.”
