Profits From the
First Annual “Painting Takedown”
To Benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels
Sunday, March 24, 2013 – 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The Active Space: 566 Johnson Avenue in Bushwick, Brooklyn
On March 24th from 6 pm – 9 pm, twenty Brooklyn artists will pay tribute to landscape painter Bob Ross at the first annual “Painting Takedown” to benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels. In this homage to his PBS TV show, “The Joy of Painting,” the artists will re-invent Ross’ “happy little trees” as they create edgy, one-of-a-kind landscapes to be auctioned off for charity at the end of the evening.
Presented by Matt Timms, producer of competitive home-cooking challenges called Takedowns, this event will benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels, a not-for-profit organization that raises private funds to prepare and deliver weekend, holiday and emergency meals to the homebound elderly throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Six Point beer and homemade chili will also be sold throughout the evening, with 100% of the proceeds — and that of the auction — going to help feed Citymeals’ meal recipients. The artists are “competitively” painting for audience favorite awards of $250, $150 and $100 from Utrecht art supplies.
