Castillo Theatre Announces
Jackie Robinson Play: Stealin’ Home
Next week brings the release of a new major motion picture, 42, about the great Jackie Robinson. This week brings Castillo Theatre’s announcement of a revival of its Jackie Robinson play, Stealin’ Home, originally written in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball in 1947. Stealin’ Home, by Castillo’s late artistic director and playwright-in-residence Fred Newman, is a fantasy exploring the continuing impact that Jackie Robinson has had on the Black community and on America as a whole.
Stealin’ Home opens Castillo’s 2013-2014 theatre season. The play will be directed by Broadway and Off-Broadway actor and director, David Nackman and opens October 11, 2013 and runs until November 24.
