 Fashion at South Street Seaport

You just never know what you're gonna come across waltzin' around the city. On Tuesday night, June 26th I got to see a fashion show in the outdoors just besides the great ships off of Pier 16 & 17 at the South Street Seaport. I believe it was hosted by Duggat, but then again, it was a semi private affair. Those of us with a good enough view got to see it all. Models would arrive in cars, jeeps and even one showed up on a motorcycle. They'd strut their stuff down the red carpet and onto the stage. Just goes to show you.....'ya never know in New York!

Gettin' Ready for the Fourth of July Spectacular
The fireboat you see here sprayin' its stuff is mostly likely
one of the one's you'll see during the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Celebration.
Along with all the barges and boats in the river,
there'll be these boats spraying colored water with lights pointed at the spray to highlight the colors.
It's a nice addition to the show.

 The Next Best...Ding!

What you'll find at Grand Central Terminal is: "An exhibition of 80 typewriters that have been reinvented, recycled, transformed, and saved from obsolescence by the creative talents of the students of the School of Visual Arts"

Passing through, I had no idea at first what this was. For a moment I thought there was construction going on. That is, 'till I noticed a typewriter about the size of an old Volkswagon. It's called "The Biggest Ding." Here I found typewriter hybrids of all sorts. From half accordian and fishtank to a potted plant and even a typewriter hanging from a tree.

I was told they'd be there for about a month, perhaps 'till the end of June? So if you're in the area, definitely give it a look. With wacky names that fit the type, it'll be a hoot checking out these machines! Good luck to you students out there!

Past events

One of many street fairs in this city...this one took place on Christopher Street betw 7th and Greenwich in Greenwich Village...In all honesty, when you've seen one, you've seen them all...but they're still cool to go to....Check out the Events Calendar to see what's up for free in the streets and in our parks!
