What you'll find at Grand Central Terminal is: "An exhibition
of 80 typewriters that have been reinvented, recycled, transformed,
and saved from obsolescence by the creative talents of the students
of the School of Visual Arts"
Passing through, I had no idea at first what this was. For a moment
I thought there was construction going on. That is, 'till I noticed
a typewriter about the size of an old Volkswagon. It's called "The
Biggest Ding." Here I found typewriter hybrids of all sorts.
From half accordian and fishtank to a potted plant and even a typewriter
hanging from a tree.
I was told they'd be there for about a month, perhaps 'till the end
of June? So if you're in the area, definitely give it a look. With
wacky names that fit the type, it'll be a hoot checking out these
machines! Good luck to you students out there! |
