about this year's (2007)
Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park
~ BY CLICKING HERE ~
Well, it was a glorious day here in NYC this 21st of September,
2003. With not a single cloud in the sky and rather cooling
temperatures and wonderful breezes it was a perfect day for
outdoor events of all sorts. 'and gosh were there! Throughout
New York City Festivals and Fairs were taking place. Although
I can only guess that they were all terrific, somehow I can't
imagine any being as unique and fun as the Medieval Festival
at Fort Tryon Park!
On hand were folks of all ages, shapes and sizes sharing
their wonderful charm with an audience which just had to number
in the tens of thousands throughout the day. Yours truly was
on hand to take it all in and what joy! I mean, really! To
think of how I was actually considering doing something else
with my day. I had a ball at this festival.
If you didn't attend then gosh did you miss out. The medieval
costumes were something else as were the performers, jugglers,
musical artists, crafts and other food items for sale plus
of course the pickle pirates (swash buckling fellas selling
their pickles.....or as their pamphlet says: 'A
roaming posse of pulchritudinous pickle purveyors with plenty
of attitude'...hahahaha, ya gotta love it!). Heck,
there even was the occasional friar and palm reader. ALL GOOD
FUN!
But that's not all! The day's events culminated with a performance
provided by the NY Scottish Pipes, Drums and Dancers. This
was then followed by Silver Knights Joust Team carrying out
their Grand Joust on horses.
In closing, I would like to thank
the Washington Heights and Inwood Development Corporation
as well as of course New York City Park and Recreation for
a grand time! Expertly carried out, timed, and truly entertaining.
Too bad there isn't a Medieval Festival every weekend. Here's
to next year's celebration! |
