| From Fishing, swimming,
boating and picnicking to tennis, and hiking trails this parkland
will seem to almost have it all. Open year-round New Yorkled's learned
that there's also sledding and cross country skiing in winter. Its
location at very comfortable spot just off of route 9W is not far
above the exit off of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Actually it's a mere
6 miles along a very scenic rural road. Rockland Lake State Park
is situated on Hook Mountain, NY.
Open year-round you'll find at the park picnic tables, grills and
boat rentals as well as plenty of photo taking opportunities along
Rockland Lake's rim. Yours truly spent enough time during a visit
observing geese, ducks and a couple of swans. 'and boy what a treat
that was!! There's a small fee mind you for access to the swimming
pools of which there's also one for the kiddies. There's also a
number of tennis courts and golf courses on hand. Considering the
other locales nearby one wouldn't regret one single bit a trip to
this wonderful day-escape.
Getting there:
- From NYC, make your way up along any route or interstate which'll
lead you onto the Tappan Zee Bridge. Stick to the right hand side
of your crossing since you'll be exiting on the right hand side
so's to enter upon 9W North. Follow 9W for approximately 6 miles
until you come across the 'big-enough' Welcome Sign to Rockland
Lake State Park....'presto! you're there! Have fun and let's be
safe out there on the road!
